Captain Cole’s Report: 01/02/2012
Happy New Year everybody!!
Well, now we’re into January and it ’s starting to get cold… The first freeze of the year is forecast for tomorrow night! The fish will be looking for a warm place to go, as well as making sure they are not exposed to the high winds that accompany the frontal activity. In other words, it’s time to start fishing “Deep”. “Fishing Deep” can mean two different...

Captain Cole’s Report 11/29/2011
November finished with a bang as the Red fishing was awesome!!
The Red Tide seems to have diminished without a long stay… (Fingers crossed, holding breath!!) . One unfortunate result of the bloom that stayed mainly on the west side of the barrier Islands was a Redfish kill. Many larger Redfish were schooling on the beaches when the bloom approached our area and were overcome. As a...

Capt. Cole's Report: 06/24/2011
Tarpon season 2011 is almost in the books, and we are heading full speed into the “Post Season”. All in all it was a “Pretty Good” season… nowhere near the best I’ve seen, but not “Terrible” (although there were some awful days!!) Still it was lots of fun, and we we made the ‘poons fly!!
The past week has indeed been surprisingly good, some...

Capt. Cole's Report 05/19/2011
Sorry it’s been I few weeks since I last checked in!
It’s Tarpon Season in Boca Grande!! That’s the best excuse I can come up with!
April finished strong with the bulk of the migratory Tarpon showing up by the middle of the month! And May has been just as good! We did however suffer through a terrible bout of West wind at the hands of a late Cold Front (sucks!) But the...

Capt. Cole's Report:
No time at all indeed!! The Tarpon are here, and my clients are ready! All week long I have been blessed with guys who are willing to hang in the pocket, and put the necessary wait time in to get their shot at a laid up early season ‘Poon! The payoff? Some great shots! This seems to be an early Spring, which is apparently having an effect on the Tarpon as well… Sure there’s...
tumblrbot asked: WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?
It’s getting warmer, and it looks like an early Spring! I’m writing this, fully aware of the cold front that should be here within a few days, but it’s impact should not be able to hold out long!
The Snook have been enjoying the warmer water, and we have been enjoying them! mike was down for a few days last week, and we took advantage of clear skies and happy Snook.Mike...

Capt. Cole's Report
Well, we had a nice little run with some warmer temps last week, and the fishing has been pretty good! Another front came in this afternoon and promises to bring winter back for a few more days. It’s kind of a pity, just today before the front arrived, Mark and I found some nice Snook laying out on some exposed banks sunning themselves.
We managed to catch a few, and lost a nice one to an...

Capt. Cole's Report
Well the fronts are coming with a fairly steady rhythm now, and the fish are responding in their usual manner. The poor SNOOK are stacking up in the way back creeks, as well as deep-water sanctuaries, these water temps will have to rise if we are going see any hint of predation out of them.
That being said, they will still attack an easy meal presented very carefully. When their metabolic rate is...

Capt. Cole's Report
Wow! It sure did get cold quickly down here this year (especially for a “La Nina” year). Oh well, it certainly did get the attention of the redfish. Although they are not tailing too much right now, they are definitely hungry! The tides coming out of the full moon were very low to start, but those low tides were compounded by the stiff northwesterly winds that accompany cold fronts....
